Staff Development/renewal - Suggested Three Day Package
- The first day I work with older students and we prepare an assembly to present to the entire school. This sets up a positive learning environment and immediately creates an all-school language of success and perseverance. Then I work with students in their classrooms. At the end of the first day I debrief with staff. A week later (or the next day) I work in classrooms all day. I like to then wait a week or so to give staff time to play with the ideas we've worked with.
- You might want ot hire a team to come to your school.
- About Vicki's husband, Murray Lein,Occupation therapist:
I travel with Vicki and am also available for staff training and consultation. Here are some inservice topics I could do that may be of interest to you.
- Assess and treat handwriting problems.
- Training staffing using Handwriting without Tears curriculum.
- Demonstrate “learning readiness” for students that can be used in class.
- Bal-A- Vis-X. A program of Balance- Auditory- Vision Exercises to help kids focus, concentrate, and develop motor coordination.
- Assess and offset sensory processing difficulties that can appear as a range of issues including being unfocused, disorganized, apathetic on one extreme to rigid, controlling, anxious kids that overreact to sounds, movement or touch.
- Work directly with kindergarten through high students to improve classroom performance and self regulation.
- Provide assessment of gross and fine motor skills.
I have heard nothing but great reviews from staff and administrators.
In fact, on Tuesday our 8th grade state writing assessment began and
ALL the teachers wore their "lucky" hats and the kids loved it!
We will be looking for opportunities to invite you back!
